Plot Summary

A group of advanced aristocratic youths conspired to overthrow the cruel rule of the Tsar and establish a democratic state. They held an armed uprising in December, hence later generations called them the December Party. After the failure of the uprising, the Decemberists were suppressed and persecuted, their leaders were hanged, and the Dukes of Trubetskoy and Volkonsky were exiled to Siberia. The wives and fianc é es of these exiled October Party members resolutely decided to abandon their affluent lives and go to Siberia with their husbands. They withstood the pressure from the Tsar and their families, crossed thousands of miles through hardships, and finally arrived at the side of their loved ones. These frail women's loyalty to love, their understanding of the patriotism and revolutionary spirit of the October Party, and their selfless and fearless sacrifice spirit have written touching chapters in history. This film is based on real events in Russian history, and the title is taken from a famous line by the poet Pushkin.
