Plot Summary

The story takes place during the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century. In a long-distance carriage, noble gentlemen and ladies speak loudly to a silent farmer, but suddenly the farmer transforms and reveals the true face of Juan (Rod Steiger), the leader of a family style gang. After Juan robbed, he encountered John (played by James Coburn), an Irish Revolutionary Army explosives expert, whose blasting ability made robbing the Mesa Verde Bank like retrieving a bag. Juan followed him relentlessly, but inadvertently became involved in the Mesa Verde uprising that was coordinated with the Villa Revolutionary Army. Juan successfully teamed up with John to rob the bank, but all he gained was the liberation of 150 political prisoners. Colonel Gunter of the government army led his troops to suppress the revolution, and Juan and the revolutionary team paid a painful price. In adversity, John and Juan developed a true revolutionary friendship. On their way to the United States, they turned back to intercept Colonel Gunter. When John was shot, the veteran soldier saw the heartwarming scenes of his time in Ireland... This film won the Best Director award at the 1972 David Awards in Italy.
