Description

Plot Summary

Qing is like a wild chrysanthemum, Jun is like a gentian tree. A childhood first love that combines classical and natural beauty. The old man (Kasai Tomohisa) returned to his hometown by the Qianqu River in Shinshu by rowing a small boat. The past appears within an oval frame on a white background, like watching old black and white photos, and the beauty also implies the constraints of feudal families. Sixty years ago, when Masao was fifteen years old and his widowed mother fell ill from overwork, her cousin Minzi, who was two years older than Masao, came to help and developed a good relationship with him. One day, the two of them went out separately and saw each other from a distance in the field, waving at each other. Finally, they gathered together and worked together, and their feelings were all plain. Mother sent her husband to study in the provincial capital due to the fear of words, and bid him farewell like ink stained mountains and rivers, leaving no words of sorrow. After Zhengfu left, Minzi was also forced to get married. The newcomer's acting is pure and simple, with Japanese waka songs expressing grief in between the scenes. Source: 29th HKIFF
