Description

Plot Summary

The daughter of a pharmacy on Shudao Street in Osaka, Haruhiko (played by Momoe Yamaguchi), was born beautiful and charming. However, she lost her sight due to eye disease when she was a child, but she developed a natural talent for playing the sanxian instrument. With a naturally aloof personality, she did not want to be looked down upon and became increasingly eccentric. Taking care of her daily life is her servant Sasuke (played by Tomohiro Miura), who is four years older than her. Sasuke, accompanied by Harunobu, takes care of the young lady meticulously. As he follows Harunobu to learn San'in, his contact with her increases day by day, and he gradually develops feelings for her. The subtle relationship between the two was not acknowledged by Chunqin until she was disfigured by an accident. In order not to make Chunqin feel sad, Sasuke chose to stab himself in the eyes, so that what remained in his mind was the forever beautiful appearance of the young lady. The two of them never had any gap again and lived together forever... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Junichiro Tanizaki.
