Description
Plot Summary
The story takes place during the American Revolutionary War. Benjamin (played by Mel Gibson) is a French American who has participated in numerous wars between the French and Native Americans. The cruel war cost him his beloved wife, and he swore to stay away from war forever. So when the British colonizers burned the war to Benjamin's homeland, his first choice was not to rise up in rebellion, but to flee. When he saw his eldest son join the patriotic army organized locally, he did not step forward with him. However, when his eldest son was captured by the enemy and his younger son stepped forward to save his brother but was killed, Benjamin could no longer hold on. Only then did he realize that only resistance could save his homeland from fire and water.
