Vida's task is to suppress rebels and study various torture methods to torture and harm captured dissidents. Ophelia witnesses unpleasant events every day. Watching her cold stepfather and his followers commit evil every day and take pleasure in it, and her mother falling ill in bed, Ophelia, troubled by loneliness and the pain of witnessing atrocities, began to indulge in her own fantasies and console herself. One day, Ophelia met the guardian of the maze, Pan Shen (played by Doug Jones). Pan Shen told her that she was actually a missing princess from the fantasy kingdom, and in order to restore her identity, she had to pass three dangerous tests. Film: In 1791, the restless French were vigorously advancing their Great Revolution. In the Constituent Assembly, representatives from three levels decided to use seats to express their attitude towards King Louis. Those who support the king's policies and hope to maintain the status quo sit on the right hand side of the king. Those who opposed the Bourbon dynasty and advocated radical change sat to the left of the king. From then on, revolutionaries around the world had a resounding label: 'leftist'. Over the next hundred years, the political history of Europe can generally be attributed to the struggle between the left and the right. In 1944 in Spain, this struggle was carried out in an extremely brutal manner. Franco, a military general from the right wing, overthrew the socialist leftist government through civil war and established a fascist dictatorship. The defeated left-wing continues to resist in a guerrilla manner, while the right-wing government responds cruelly. The young female protagonist Ophelia in "Pan Shen's Maze" revealed her adventure of wandering between reality and magic in this bloody storm. In "Pan's Labyrinth," the director emphasized Ophelia's "leftist" stance at least three times. At the beginning of the film, Ophelia and her mother ride to the captain's camp. When she picked up the fragment of the statue on the way and patched it onto the head of the statue, we noticed that she was patching up the left eye (from Ao's perspective). Some commentators point out that the meaning of this plot is to open one's eyes, see the essence of the world, and then look back at the progress of the entire story. Through those eerie magic and bloody realities, we can clearly see a nearly complete structure of left-wing revolutionary thought. At the beginning, the little girl added eyes to the statue and "opened her eyes to see the world", which seemed to imply the beginning of the Enlightenment movement. From Rousseau to Marx, their theories on revolution can all be traced back to the many assumptions of Enlightenment thought. Next, following the guidance of Pan Shen, Ophelia searched for a key under a decaying fig tree. The key leads to the short sword that can kill Pale Man. In the Bible, the fig tree is an image with rich meanings. Adam and Eve, after being wise, used fig leaves to cover their shame, which links the tree to a metaphor of civilization. Jesus once cursed a fig tree that was covered in green leaves but did not bear fruit, causing it to wither even its roots. Many biblical interpreters believe that the fig tree here implies Israel. The curse of Christ prophesied that Israel was about to perish and that the Israelites would be scattered throughout the world. In the film, we can consider the withered fig tree as representing Spain in 1944, or the entire European civilization. As a revolutionary, Ophelia aims to find the key to defeating enemies and establishing a new world from the declining European civilization. Next, Pan Shen ordered the captain's newborn baby to be taken to the maze to complete Ophelia's "search for her father" and "return home". Here, we can easily associate this newborn with the new human society. The ideal of revolution is to establish a new society. Father - the ruler of the old world, hoping that he will inherit the mantle; Sister - a rebel from the old world, hoping to bring him to a new world. In the end, the sister's ally - the guerrilla team - obtained the child and shot him dead from contact with his father. This is almost a replica of the real history of Spain. Juan Carlos was raised by dictator Franco since his high school years and designated as his successor. But he had completely different political stances from Franco. After he ascended to the throne and became king, he began a comprehensive democratization reform, bringing Spain into a completely new society. King Juan Carlos is the newborn who broke ties with the dictator's father.

Technical Specifications

Director:

Guillermo del Toro

Cast:

Ivana Bakro, Sergi Lopez, Maribel Wado, Doug Jones

Audio:

Western DTS-HD7.1 / English Commentary DTS2.0 / Thai DD2.0

Subtitles:

English / English / Western / Chinese Simplified / Chinese Traditional / Korean / Thai / Chinese Guide / Chinese Picture in Picture

https://www.bluray-dvd.com/de/products/2006-pans-labyrinth-1080p-for-gift-1-disc-all-regionplay-seal-box-blu-ray
