Plot Summary

The film is adapted from the most notorious unsolved murder case in New York history. In 1973, Robert Durst (played by Ryan Gosling), the son of a wealthy New York real estate tycoon, married beautiful poor student Kathleen McCormack (played by Kirsten Dunst). The two of them left the city after marriage and enjoyed a peaceful time in the countryside. When they returned, Kati returned to school to continue her studies. Everything seemed happy, but in 1982, Kathleen suddenly disappeared and could not be traced. In 2000, Durst's friend Susan Berman was found dead at home, and the disappearance case from 20 years ago was revived. Durst was questioned for both cases, but was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence. In 2001, Durst's neighbor Morris Black was killed and his body was dismembered. He was once again suspected and charged, but was acquitted after being defended by a renowned lawyer. Durst was finally sentenced to 5 years in prison after being tried again in 2004, and the media bestowed upon him the title of "millionaire murderer".
