Plot Summary

Big year "is a competition for bird watching enthusiasts, where participants need to spend a whole year recording the number of bird species they observe, and the one with the highest number wins. Brad, Stu, and Kenny are three die hard birdwatchers. Brad (played by Jack Black) is an elderly otaku who has achieved nothing, so when he decides to spend a lot of money on "New Year's Day", his parents think he's crazy; Stu (played by Steve Martin) is the president of a large company, so when he decides to put aside his million dollar business and attend the "New Year", his assistant thinks he's crazy. This old man and a young man met in competition and quickly became friends, deciding to work together against their strongest opponent - the winner of the previous "New Year", Kenny (played by Owen Wilson). Only bird lovers understand what it means to give up a whole year of career and life. Three "bird lovers" compete fiercely during the Chinese New Year, but ultimately have to face the problems in their lives... The film is adapted from the 1998 novel of the same name by Mark Obmascik.
