Description
Plot Summary
The unremarkable Ali (played by Matthias Schoenaerts) was once a glamorous fighter, but he lost his livelihood after being injured. When he was in poverty and destitute, he took his son Sam (played by Armand Verdure) to seek refuge with his sister and found a job as a bodyguard locally. One night, Ali met a beautiful woman named Stephanie (played by Marion Cotillard) who had a dispute with someone else. Stephanie is a killer whale trainer, but this girl, who has no worries about food and clothing and is surrounded by a halo in her daily life, had her legs taken away by a killer whale during a routine performance. The film is adapted from the short story collection of the same name by Canadian novelist Craig Davidson, and won the Best Actor award (Matthias Schoenaerts), Best Director award, and Best Screenplay award at the 2012 Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain.
