Description

Plot Summary

GLOBAL dispatches employees Steve Butler (played by Matt Damon) and Sue Thomason (played by Frances McDormand) to a small town with agriculture as its economic pillar but rich natural gas resources, in an attempt to persuade local residents to cooperate with GLOBAL to explore natural gas together, which will also revitalize the local economy. Steve thought it was a natural thing to do, but was opposed by Frank (played by Hal Holbrook), a science teacher at a local high school. Frank proposed that the entire town vote to decide whether to start natural gas extraction. And the sudden appearance of Dustin Noble (played by John Krasinski), a young man from the environmental organization Athena, using the destruction of his hometown due to oil and gas extraction as evidence, further exacerbates the local people's resistance to natural gas extraction. Alice (played by Rosemarie DeWitt), a woman whom Steve had a good impression of locally, also seemed to have lost trust in him. Can Steve successfully complete the company's tasks?
