Description
Plot Summary
In 2009, the American cargo ship "Maersk Alabama" was led by Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) on a cargo transportation mission in the Horn of Africa region. The route of this mission passes through the waters of Somalia, where piracy is rampant. Although Captain Philip and his crew had undergone training and exercises to combat piracy, they did not expect to be attacked by four Somali pirates shortly after departure. Captain Philip was unfortunately taken hostage by pirates and taken away from the cargo ship while fighting to protect the crew and cargo. After receiving intelligence, the US Navy and other departments immediately launched a large-scale rescue operation to rescue Captain Philip. This film is adapted from a real event. This is the first time in nearly 200 years that American ships have been hijacked by pirates.
