Plot Summary

The Mule, a film directed by Dongmu, will focus on a World War II veteran named Leo Sharp who transported drugs for the Mexican drug trafficking group Sinaloa for ten years. He was arrested in 2011 while crossing Michigan with a broken truck carrying $3 million worth of drugs. At the time, he was already 90 years old. Later, his lawyer insisted that Sharp was used because of dementia, and ultimately Sharp was only sentenced to three years in prison. As early as 2014, Imperative Entertainment bought an article about Sharp's story from The New York Times and planned to make it into a movie. At that time, it was rumored that the director had chosen Ruben Fleischer for "Gangster Saga" and "Venom". It is reported that 'The Mule' will be jointly produced by Warner Bros. and Imperative Entertainment. The first version of the script was written by Nick Schenck, who had previously collaborated with Eastwood on "Old Cars," and was ultimately rewritten by Dave Holstein, the screenwriter of "Toxic Moms" and "Political Edge.
