Plot Summary

In 1929, in England, Mrs. Whittaker (played by Kristin Scott Thomas) was the head of a noble family, carefully managing household chores and balancing the relationship between her husband (played by Colin Firth) and their two daughters. However, everything was shattered by the return of their eldest son John Whittaker (played by Ben Barnes). John's flash marriage wife is the glamorous American racing driver Lalita (played by Jessica Biel). Many of her behaviors are considered promiscuous by orthodox mothers in law. And the two daughters also felt sorry for her brother for not liking her. Lalida and her husband's friends went for a ride, others elegantly rode horses, while she drove her motorcycle at lightning speed. When isolated, she would confide in her father-in-law, and the two even danced gracefully at the ball. This turned into a fierce fight between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law... This film is adapted from Noel Coward's drama. Christine Scott Thomas was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the British Independent Film Awards for this film.
