Plot Summary

In 1945, as the Second World War was coming to an end, Japan, as an important member of the axis of evil, had reached the end of its arrogance. That year, the Battle of Okinawa, which decided the direction of the war, began. Thousands of spirited American soldiers were sent to Okinawa, waiting for them at the heavily defended and extremely dangerous Hacksaw Ridge of the enemy. Among this group of people, there was a military doctor who refused to take up arms. His name is Desmond Dawes (played by Andrew Garfield) and he comes from Virginia, USA. At the outbreak in the Pacific, the frail Desmond volunteered to become a military doctor who saved lives and helped the wounded. Due to his childhood and family reasons, he never wanted to pick up a gun for training, so he would rather bear the charge of refusing military service and be sent to a military court. After many twists and turns, Desmond finally arrived at Hacksaw Ridge with his comrades. Amidst gunfire and bullets, countless people fell to the ground in an instant. Supported by faith and belief, Desmond single handedly saved dozens of dying lives... This film is based on a true story.
