Description
Plot Summary
In the 1980s and 1990s, AIDS spread like a plague, claiming the lives of over 40 million people. A group of young and brave gay men and women who fight for their rights with strong beliefs and actions. By taking to the streets to protest, challenging government institutions, infiltrating scientific research, and participating in clinical trials, they devoted their youth and even lives to successfully reverse society's value perception, find effective drugs and treatment methods, and prevent the fate of the new generation of AIDS patients from being sentenced to death. This film is almost entirely edited from historical footage of that year and is director David Frans' first film. The Plague Survival Guide won the 2012 Gotham Award for Best Documentary and was nominated for the Best Documentary category at the 85th Academy Awards.
