Plot Summary

The film is adapted from the 2009 work of the same name by American author Philip Roth. Pacino plays Simon Axler, a legendary but now defunct Shakespearean tragedian whose career is declining and he struggles to regain his passion for performance and life. His mental state is also increasingly worrying. He asked his agent to help him find a job writing memoirs, because 'all the old actors do this'. When he starred in King Lear, he fell off the stage because he couldn't distinguish whether the scene was drama or reality. On the emergency stretcher in the hospital, he tried hard to make a 'perfect pain groan'. Also asked if it is possible to retrieve property after suicide.
