Description

Plot Summary

The sky is slightly white, it's already dawn. But for Ricardo (played by Francisco Rabal), it was a painful and cruel night. No matter how much Ricardo begged Victoria (played by Monica Vitti) to change her mind, she had already made up her mind and insisted on leaving. Victoria went to the Rome Stock Exchange to find her mother, and from a distance saw her excitedly chatting about stocks with her broker Piero (played by Alain Delon). Piero is young and elegant, with a graceful demeanor, and is very good at pleasing women, which is of no interest to Victoria. But an inexplicable strong attraction slowly grew between the two, yet neither of them took the first step. When she returned to the exchange, she encountered a sharp drop in stocks and Victoria's mother also lost a lot of money. Anxious Victoria felt that Piero could become her reliable protector. However, when the two finally got together, the complex relationship hidden behind them caused them to distance themselves from each other. Directed by Italian modernist film director Michelangelo Antonioni, "Eclipse", together with "Night" and "Adventure", constructed Antonioni's "Modern Love Trilogy". Antonioni's works have always focused on the pathology and alienation of human mental states, and behind this film is still the humanistic moral crisis and spiritual emptiness that he wants to convey. This film won the Special Jury Prize at the 15th Cannes Film Festival in 1962 and was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the same festival.
