Plot Summary

Nine years after "2001: A Space Odyssey," Dr. Floyd (played by Roy Scheider), former director of the National Space Council, accepted the Soviet American cooperation program and led Dr. Ke Brain (played by John Lithgow), designer of the Discovery space station, and Dr. Chandra (played by Bob Balaban), founder of the HAL9000 computer, to the Soviet space station near Jupiter.
