Plot Summary

Willie (played by Frankie Muniz) was the only child in the family, and in that era, being an only child was very rare. Willie was bullied and excluded by his peers because of this, and his personality became increasingly withdrawn. Only Dink (played by Luke Wilson) who lives next door can make Willie feel happy and safe, and he even asks Dink for advice on how to become a baseball pitcher. But not long after, this trusted friend left Willie and went to the battlefield. In order to comfort the heartbroken Willie, his mother gave him a little dog named Schipp. Schipp was smart and obedient, and with his help, Willie gradually opened his heart and made a group of friends. Ding Ke returned, but was charged with desertion. Willie invited Ding Ke to participate in his rugby game, but the latter missed the appointment. Angry Willie vented his anger on Schipp, which directly led to Schipp running away from home. At this moment, Willie realized how important Schipp was to him, and he was determined to find it and apologize to it.
