Plot Summary

A smoking ban has turned narrow alleys into a new social zone, forcing countless men and women who smoke to hide there. No matter where they are or what they do, they are just smokers there, and all they do is smoke and joke together. Zhiming (played by Yu Wenle) from an advertising company and Chunjiao (played by Miriam Yeung) who works at a cosmetics counter met there. Zhiming's unfortunate experience and her act of lighting a cigarette for Chunjiao made her slightly fond of this gentle man. In the following days and nights, the two would occasionally send text messages and make plans to smoke on the street corner. Emotions are transmitted through the thumb, love grows in the smoke, and ultimately a flirtatious text message leads to the breakup of Chunjiao and her boyfriend Jiahao (played by Huang Debin). Just as Chunjiao was about to fully devote herself to her relationship with Zhiming, Zhiming's attitude became ambiguous. The smoke continued to linger in the streets and alleys, but it could not bridge the gap between the two. With the decision to increase tobacco taxes, a large number of smokers began searching and hoarding cigarettes. During the process of searching for cigarettes, Zhiming and Chunjiao reunited at the convenience store they first met. That night, the two made an appointment to go find cigarettes together... The film was shot in five weeks and 15 shooting days, which was quite short. Due to excessive use of vulgar language and realistic shots, "Zhi Ming and Chun Jiao" was classified as a Category III film when it was released in Hong Kong.
