Description

Plot Summary

Adapted from the award-winning book "Toast: A Young Hunger Story" by British national treasure food writer Nigel Slater, this film brings childhood memories and his love for food to the big screen. The mother of Nigel Slater (played by Freddie Highmore), a young man, was never a good cook and couldn't even cook simple soup. The most common food for the family of three was toast. After the mother's asthma attack and death, the father had to replace her with canned food. Later, the skilled cook cleaner (played by Helena Bonham Carter) seized his father's stomach and became his stepmother. The growing hostility led Nigel to choose to attend a home economics class, learning how to make various sweets to challenge his skilled stepmother. My father has to endure constant noise from the two of them every day and is forced to eat two endless desserts that have been made one after another. The war between the two finally came to an end after their father's sudden death. 17-year-old Nigel packed his bags, found a job in the kitchen, and entered the glorious hall of extraordinary culinary skills.
