Plot Summary

In a small town in Florida, Hillary Van Wetter (played by John Cusack) is accused of murdering a police officer and sentenced to death. Miami Times reporter Ward Jansen (played by Matthew McConaughey) felt that something was amiss and that Hillary might not be the real culprit, so he and another journalist from London, Yardley Acheman (played by David Oyelowo), launched an investigation into the case. Ward's young brother Jack Jansen (played by Zac Efron), a retired swimmer, became their driver. Charlotte Bliss (played by Nicole Kidman) likes to write letters to people in prison. This time, she falls in love with Hillary and they communicate frequently. So Ward and Yardley found Charlotte and asked her to assist with the investigation. Several people began to frequently visit Hillary in prison, while at the same time, Jack, who was in his adolescence, developed a passionate love for the sexy and hot Charlotte. Later, after the investigation was completed, Hillary was acquitted and took Charlotte away from Jack to his home in the forest.
