Plot Summary
This is an unknown world. However, it seems familiar: landscapes of deep canyons and crevice scars, majestic mountains towering over scorched earth plains, damp jungles and acidic lakes, unknown and most hidden animals - fierce predators, grazing vegetarians, cunning and rapidly changing artists. But is this unfamiliar planet from outer space. This planet belongs to you. 90% of cells in our body are not of human origin. We are each a walking network life, an incredibly diverse network ecosystem. At any given moment, we are the human habitat of 100 trillion living organisms, almost all of whom are hidden from the naked eye. In two square meters of skin coverage, we have a greater number of organisms than the entire human population on Earth. You constantly utilize microorganisms to paralyze, poison, starve, suffocate, bleed, and die. There is an unstoppable war happening within us. However, most of the time, we don't notice it. Harmful and beneficial lifestyles allow each other to check - a subtle balance that we commonly refer to as health. But the smallest change in this balance of power can have a significant effect: a bacterium weighing billions of grams can kill a human weighing 100000 grams. Bedbugs, fleas, lice, and ticks belong to the few visible inhabitants of the planet humans. Even worse, they make us feel their presence. When they penetrate the outer layer of our skin and inject itchy anticoagulants, infectious bacteria, and sometimes even deadly blood parasites. With the latest developments in electron microscopy, we are now able to showcase the fascinating behavior and biology of these tiny organisms. Some of them even had a huge impact on human history. Typhus and pestis are insect borne diseases, such as the determined fate of the empire and human society. However, even if we are lucky enough to avoid the most terrifying parasitic creatures, there are still many human beings on planets where extraterrestrial life exists. A terrifying lot. The average human being is an extraterrestrial creature weighing up to 4 pounds, residing in every corner of our body. Four pounds, more important than the weight of our brain! It is equally important for our survival. When scientists recently studied biodiversity, they discovered over 1000 different bacteria, dozens of which were previously unknown. Most of the creatures colonized on human planets have proven beneficial for maintaining our health. The chemical components they break up or synthesize are crucial to our metabolism, and some even produce substances to repel other uncooperative biological agents. Viruses will attempt to hijack human cells and guide cellular machinery to produce more proteins and genetic material required by the virus. Even if our immune system struggles to find and eliminate attackers, they always win. They even infiltrated our genes in their own way. Nearly 10% of the human genome is composed of viral DNA. This extraordinary 3D adventure leads us on a journey to become a part of the world that we all know about. Specially developed electron microscopy technology and micro CT scanning reveal dramatic interactions occurring in our body tissues, as microorganisms, parasites, cells, and viruses fight and cooperate. 3D ultra slow motion macro imaging opens up a whole new perspective on our daily lives. This movie will also combine the latest scanning electron microscope and CGI images to fly over micro landscapes and travel, exploring what makes human work on Earth through cells and organs. We will have to reimagine ourselves in a completely new way: each of us is a unique universe interconnected by billions of life forms. We still know all the members of these incredibly complex partnerships. But only when we do this will we truly know what makes us human. Next time, do you feel something's wrong? Stop fantasizing. 90% of cells in your body belong to someone else
