In order to survive, Ron began researching various anti HIV prescriptions and alternative therapies, even smuggling unapproved drugs from around the world. With the help of Doctor Sax (Jennifer Garner) and transvestite gay Raymond (Jared Leto), Ron started to establish an underground organization called "Dallas Buyer Club" to provide more "unconventional treatment" for AIDS patients, and many sick gay and lesbian also turned to him. His actions were naturally obstructed and pressured by the FDA and drug dealers. Ron passed away in September 1992, 2557 days after he was told he had only 30 days left to live. During these nearly 7 years, he persevered in the arduous struggle against illness, drug regulatory agencies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, enjoying a truly alive life This film is adapted from a true story and tells the story of a terminally ill patient who works hard to survive and save thousands of people facing the same situation.
