Description

Plot Summary

In 1926, in a cotton field in Georgia, the young Cecil witnessed his father being shot by a farmer, casting a lifelong shadow of racial discrimination in his heart. In the late 1950s, Cecil Gaines (played by Forest Whitaker), who was hovering over Washington, unexpectedly gained the favor of the White House's internal affairs chief and was elected to work as a food service worker at the center of the country's politics. He remembered his superiors' teachings, observed their words and expressions, and dissolved himself in the air. In the following years, Cecil served Eisenhower (played by Robin Williams), Kennedy (played by James Marsden), Johnson (played by Liev Schreiber), Nixon (played by John Cusack), Reagan (played by Alan Rickman), and others who each wrote an important chapter in American history. Surrounding the civil rights struggle of black people, he, along with the president, family, and siblings, also experienced unforgettable moments... This film is adapted from the true story of Eugene Allen, the Chief Steward of the White House.
