Description
Plot Summary
On August 31, 1937, during the Battle of Shanghai, Yao Ziqing was ordered to lead more than 500 troops to guard Baoshan County. The Japanese army launched a crazy coordinated attack by sea, land, and air on Baoshan to expand their landing area. In the situation of outdated equipment, unfavorable terrain, and no reinforcements, Yao Ziqing, who was both intelligent and brave, led the entire battalion to defend the isolated city with a small enemy force. He flexibly used tactical strategies, from taking the initiative to attack the enemy to defending the position and resisting tenaciously. Within seven days, he repelled the Japanese army's repeated attacks, and more than 500 soldiers from the entire battalion died on the battlefield. On September 7th, the Japanese army broke through the city, and Yao Ziqing led more than 20 remaining soldiers to engage in fierce street battles inside the city, ultimately sacrificing their lives heroically.
