Plot Summary

Lang (played by Tom Cruise) has been a competitive boy since childhood, yearning for a manly life. Young Lang was completely conquered by President Napon's provocative Vietnam War speech, and an impulse to challenge and sacrifice for the country gradually grew in Lang's heart. After losing a wrestling competition, he, who had always been strong willed, resolutely bid farewell to his lover Donna and college life, and embarked on the path of joining the army and participating in the war. However, Lang, who arrived in Vietnam, did not find the heroic spirit he had longed for here. Instead, he witnessed a tragedy against humanity. Long's friend Wilson also died from Long's bullets in a melee, and soon after, Long was paralyzed and sent back to the United States. Sitting in a wheelchair, Lang still holds onto his faith in the war launched by the United States, but after his girlfriend Donna meets Lang again, she sadly believes that Lang's tragedy is all the fault of the war. Nightmares entwined Lang, who went to pay respects to his comrade Wilson. Amidst anti war calls, Lang finally awakened.
