Plot Summary

The film is adapted from a true story, and K19 was the first strategic nuclear submarine of the Soviet Union. The film director Katherine Bigelow is the first Academy Award winner for Best Female Director. Captain Alexis (played by Harrison Ford) receives orders to replace former captain Mikhail (played by Liam Neeson) as the commander of the nuclear powered missile submarine K-19 during the most tense moments of the Cold War. Alexi's mission is to spare no effort to quickly put this poorly maintained submarine on operational alert and carry out its maiden voyage.
