Plot Summary

Dieter Dangler (played by Christian Bale), born in Germany, has dreamed of flying airplanes and soaring through the sky since childhood. After growing up, he immigrated to the United States with his family and joined the military as a true pilot. Later, Dieter joined the Vietnam War with the navy. On the way to carry out the mission, the Dieter plane was unfortunately shot down by ground artillery fire from the Vietnamese army. He narrowly escaped death, but was ultimately captured by the enemy and subjected to severe torture. Dieter was taken to a prisoner of war concentration camp in Laos, where there were also several American military companions. Guarding the enemy and subjecting them to inhumane treatment, Dieter secretly made up his mind to escape before he could sit still, but his companions Gene (played by Jeremy Davis), Doon (played by Steve Thorn), and others around him did not think so, and they did not have much confidence. Under persuasion, Dieter carefully planned to escape during the rainy season. They have to face the boundless jungle, hunger, wild beasts, and Vietnamese people who don't know where they are
