Plot Summary

The film "The Beetle" combines a magical and realistic style, set in Brazil in the 1920s. The protagonist is an African American laborer who not only creates his own "Capoeira", but also has supernatural abilities to dodge bullets and even transform into a beetle to scare opponents (the film title is derived from this). Due to being bullied by local police and evil forces, he can only rise up and fight against them in a series of fierce battles. Capoeira, also known as "Brazilian War Dance" in Hong Kong, is a unique dance created by African immigrants in Brazil in the 16th century, situated between art and martial arts. Although it dances in pairs with the usual rhythm of music, similar to regular dance, the Capoeira dance incorporates a large number of martial arts movements such as somersaults, somersaults, and handstands, which are considered to have strong practical applications. Capoeira dance is also considered one of Brazil's most important local cultural symbols and national techniques.
