Description

Plot Summary

In the 1920s, the situation was turbulent and the world was in chaos, leaving no peaceful place on the land of China. At that time, warlords rose up and engaged in fierce battles. Warlord General Hou Jie (played by Andy Lau) is arrogant and domineering, treating civilians as worthless, but he cannot escape his own fate. As the saying goes, the banner of the king changes at the top of the city. In the blink of an eye, Hou Jie's glory is no longer there. His deputy Cao Man (played by Nicholas Tse) seizes the opportunity to rise to power, his wife Yan Xi (played by Fan Bingbing) leaves, and his daughter dies. All these setbacks have left this former chaotic world with no hope of success. During his time at Shaolin Temple, Hou Jie met monks such as Wudao (played by Jackie Chan), Jingneng (played by Wu Jing), Jinghai (played by Yu Shaoqun), and Jingkong (played by Shi Yanneng), gradually understanding the causes and effects of past sins and obstacles. He then let go of his greed, anger, ignorance, and doubts and sincerely turned to Buddhism. At the same time, greater hardships are looming over Shaolin... Shaolin Temple abbot Shi Yongxin serves as the producer of the film.
