Plot Summary

In 1927, George Valentine (played by Jean Dujardin) was the Best Actor in a silent film. Every time he is on stage, he makes the audience burst into laughter. His dog is a golden supporting role, and other actresses only stand aside. Once, in the face of a media interview, he accidentally met a highly expressive woman named Pepi Miller (played by B é r é nice Bejo). Although the latter stole the spotlight, he still treated her with elegance. However, this headline news overshadowed his new play, causing the boss to be extremely dissatisfied and his wife to become jealous. Later, Pepi ventured into Hollywood and happened to reunite with George, which made him restless and frequently failed in acting. Later, George, who had a falling out with his boss, decided to start his own business and write, direct, and act. At the same time, Pepi quickly rose to fame through the opportunity of sound movies and became a leading star. In the end, his silent film collided with her sound film schedule, ushering in a battle between the old and the new, emotions and box office... This film won the Best Motion Picture/Comedy award at the 69th Golden Globe Awards, Jean Dujarrian won the Best Motion Picture/Comedy Award, and the 64th Cannes Film Award.
