Description
Plot Summary
Married couple Mai and Oscar discovered that they were unable to support themselves and their two young daughters by growing rice in the northern Philippines. In order to seek a better life, they went to the capital Manila, where they quickly ran out of the little money they had left. Mai was forced to work at a bar, while Oscar also found a job driving and protecting armored trucks. Unfortunately, Oscar was soon forced into a conspiracy robbery. This is a low budget movie shot with a digital camera and produced by a small crew. In Lost Manila, director Sean Ellis, who doesn't speak Filipino, has to deal with all the issues, including directing the actors to speak Filipino. The sincere performances of the actors and Ellis' emphasis on nonverbal guidance contributed to the success of this film. The filming location of the movie is in the Philippines, which gives it a strong local flavor everywhere.
