Plot Summary

This film is based on the story of Japanese doctor Koichiro Shibata, who has admired Dr. Albert Schweitzer, known as the "saint of Africa" since childhood. As an adult, Kenichiro Shimada (played by Takao Ohsawa) becomes a white angel and follows the footsteps of the sage to work in medical services in Africa. After spending half a year in Kenya, he and his peers went to the war-torn Red Cross Hospital for medical support. There, Hangichiro witnessed the most tragic scene in the world, a young soldier wielding a gun to kill someone, and then being driven into a minefield. The heart wrenching cries of the children left Hangichiro heartbroken, and their cold and hostile eyes made him worried. What's even more terrifying is that once the children recover, they must return to the battlefield again until they die in battle. Feeling deeply responsible, Hangichiro applied for an extension to return to his home country, and together with nurses and singers (played by Riemi Ishihara) from Japan, they rushed to the forefront of saving lives and helping the injured every day. He is a lonely and brave lion, standing tall in the wind without bowing his head... This film is adapted from the story of Japanese doctor Saburo Shibata.
