Plot Summary

The film focuses on the Battle of Tetsuhara. In May 1951, the 63rd Army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army had just finished a month long operation and was ordered to enter the Tieyuan battlefield to confront four divisions of the United Nations forces head-on. The soldiers of the volunteer army fought bravely and finally brought the enemy to the negotiating table. In order to complete the task, the soldiers of the 189th Division of the 63rd Army broke down into small pieces and turned themselves into a nail, firmly nailed to the battlefield. On the 1st Battalion position, Li Xiang (played by Zhu Yilong), as a battalion instructor, made a vow of "never retreating again" and defended the position to the death. Amidst the gunfire, Li Moyin (played by Xin Baiqing) and his family of three reunite on the battlefield.
