Plot Summary

In 19th century Britain, class divisions were still very distinct. On this day, Lucy (played by Helena Bonham Carter), who comes from the upper class in England, went on vacation in Florence with her cousin Charlotte. Unfortunately, the hotel room where Lucy stayed did not have a view. George (played by Julian Sands), a British father and son who came to stay at the hotel at the same time, saw the situation with his father. His enthusiastic father wanted to switch rooms with Lucy because he could see the scenery in his room. Lucy initially disagreed, but eventually agreed with the kind persuasion of the shop owner. George and Lucy quickly fell in love, but George, who came from a lower class background, had many "bad habits" that Lucy couldn't stand. Charlotte also didn't like George very much, and they made a lot of "jokes" in their relationship. Once, George "deviated" and kissed Lucy. Lucy thought George was too "impolite" and went back to England alone. George quickly returned to his country, however, by this time Lucy had already been engaged
