Description
Plot Summary
Mr. Verdu (played by Charles Chaplin) was once a bank employee, living a peaceful but happy life with his wife Mona (played by Mady Correll) and son Pete (played by Allison Roddan). The arrival of the Great Depression caused Mr. Verdu to lose his job, leaving him homeless with a family to support and nowhere to go. His despair was evident in his words. By chance, Mr. Verdu obtained a magical poison that could kill invisibly. With this' weapon ', a brilliant plan was born in his mind. Soon, wealthy but brainless women such as Selma (played by Helene Heigh), Lydia (played by Margaret Hoffman), and Gronay (played by Isobel Elsom) became the vengeful souls of Mr. Verdu's subordinates, and their large wealth went into Mr. Verdu's pocket.
