Plot Summary

Beside the railway in Peacock Town, there lives a man with a dark past - John Schillpa (Cillian Murphy), who grew up under his mother's tyranny and developed a repressed and introverted personality. After his mother's death, John's personality split and he gave birth to a woman named Emma, who symbolizes motherhood. John thus transitioned between his male and female identities, living a peaceful yet twisted hidden life. One morning, disaster suddenly struck. A locomotive derailed and broke into John's yard. Emma, who was drying clothes, was startled and appeared in front of the people of the small town. People are discussing this matter, and John hopes to clear the yard of the locomotive as soon as possible, but politicians intend to use it as a bargaining chip in their political struggle.
