Description
Plot Summary
One of Zhang Wanting's "Immigration Trilogy", whose time background is the early stage of reform and opening up in Chinese Mainland. During the Cultural Revolution, Monkey (Sammo Hung) silently left his hometown of Shantou and Taishan to sneak into the United States, vowing never to return to China again. For the past 16 years, he has worked diligently as a taxi driver with the unique cleverness and hard work of Chinese people, but his savings are limited. However, he has gained a lot of weight. When he couldn't bear the pain of homesickness and made up his mind to return home, he borrowed eight taels of gold (a gold watch, a gold necklace) from his friends and bought some small and large items to "return home in glory". On his way home, he encountered a small setback and expressed his guilt towards his parents and younger sister by recording a "farewell voice".
