Plot Summary

During the 1948 Liberation War, Company Commander Gu Zidi (played by Zhang Hanyu) led 47 soldiers from the 9th Company to carry out the task of covering the retreat of the main force on the banks of the Wen River. Commander Liu Zeshui (played by Hu Jun) ordered the assembly of the troops and retreated upon hearing the signal. The fierce war began with the roar of shells, and the soldiers of the Ninth Company suffered heavy casualties. Platoon leader Jiao Dapeng (played by Liao Fan) claimed to have heard the assembly call before sacrificing himself, but did not hear it himself. He decided to defend the position to the death. The Ninth Company repelled the enemy's three attacks, destroyed two tanks, annihilated countless enemies, and completely eliminated the company commander Guludi.
