Plot Summary

FBI junior agent Eric (played by Ryan Phillippe) is recalled from a peripheral mission by headquarters and tasked with monitoring FBI Information Security Director Robert (played by Chris Cooper), who is suspected of major treason. Robert has been with Soviet agent Zhou Xuan for over 20 years, but there is evidence that Robert has been continuously selling intelligence to the other party in recent years. So Eric monitored Robert as a full-time assistant. As their relationship deepened, Eric felt that Robert's tough and efficient style, as well as the harmonious family atmosphere, were quite different from what his superiors had said when assigning tasks. In order to dispel Eric's doubts, the FBI revealed the background of this mission to him. Eric realized that he had become one of the key participants in investigating the FBI's biggest betrayal in history. However, facing such a far sighted opponent, Eric must carefully use every bit of Robert's trust to find direct evidence in the last two months. This film is adapted from a real event.
