Plot Summary

This film is adapted from the famous French libertine novel and has been adapted into different versions of movies, TV series, and stage plays multiple times. In the 1930s, under the gunfire of the Japanese army, the upper class in Shanghai still lost themselves in the debauched revelry every day. Xie Yifan (played by Zhang Dongjian) is a famous playboy on the Wind and Moon Field, while Mo Jieyu (played by Cecilia Cheung) is a wealthy widow who is charming but deeply hidden in the city. The two have an inseparable and intimate relationship. Do not encourage Xie to seduce the young girl Beibei, who is about to marry the wealthy businessman who abandoned him.
