Plot Summary

The Breadwinner "is an animated series adapted from the Canadian bestselling novel of the same name by renowned author Deborah Ellis. The film is produced by Cartoon Saloon Animation Company, directed by Nora Twomey and written by Anita Doron. Angelina Jolie has been appointed as the producer of the film. It tells the story of a little Afghan girl's life under Taliban rule. A little girl named Parvana, just 11 years old, lives with her family in a bombed out building in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. In 2001, in the Kabul market under Taliban control, the beautiful Pawana often went to the market to help her loving and knowledgeable father Nurullah. In her spare time, her father told her about the ancient history and fascinating legends of Cambodia. Pawana was deeply moved by the legendary characters and vowed to be brave and full of kindness like them.
