Plot Summary
12-year-old girl Darva was strictly controlled by her pedophilic father from a young age and molded into the shape of a Barbie doll. She also believed that she was a woman and that loving her father was not wrong, until her father was arrested. This film is the debut feature film of French director Emmanuel Nicole, who challenges a difficult moral theme by using restrained and clear camera language to directly address serious and sharp social issues. The camera closely follows the protagonist Darva, recording her arduous process from being portrayed as a mature woman, through self awakening, and gradually learning to become a young girl. New actress Zelda Samson, who played Darva, won the 2022 Cannes Film Festival award for her powerful performance
