Description
Plot Summary
Paul (played by Paul Giamatti), a teacher at Barton College, a preparatory school, is not very popular. Whether it's students, teachers, or the principal, they don't like him very much. They think he's flamboyant and rigid. During the Christmas holiday in 1970, Paul stayed at school to supervise students who couldn't go home. A few days later, only one student remained - a 15-year-old troublemaker named Angus, who was a good student destroyed by bad behavior and always probed on the brink of being expelled. Along with Paul and Angus, there was also the school chef Mary, an African American woman who provided services to the sons of the privileged class. Her own son had recently gone missing in Vietnam. These three distinctly different disillusioned individuals form a strange Christmas family, sharing their unfortunate experiences during the two weeks of heavy snowfall in New England and realizing that none of them are grateful for their past.
