Plot Summary

Adapted from the novel of the same name: The story of a de Havilland vampire pilot returning home on Christmas Eve in 1957, whose plane encountered a complete electrical failure on its way from the Royal Air Force Sail in northern Germany to Lakenheiser in Suffolk. Due to getting lost in the fog and running out of fuel, he was received and taken (or escorted) to an abandoned airfield of the Royal Air Force by a pilot of a WWII era De Havilland Mosquito fighter bomber, who was apparently sent to guide him. He tried to find a reasonable explanation for his ultimate rescue, which was just as troublesome as his experience. However, shortly after he landed at the airport, the fictional Royal Air Force pilot of Minton learned that his savior was Johnny Kavanaugh, a wartime Royal Air Force pilot who had been stationed in Minton and had guided disabled bombers home. Vampire pilots also learned that Kavanaugh disappeared over the North Sea on his last mission, Christmas Eve 1943, exactly 14 years ago.
