Plot Summary

In the autumn of 1963, in order to make money from the popular Beetle, United Artists in the United States signed a contract with the Beetle to shoot a movie, with the aim of releasing the film's soundtrack album in the United States. They found Walter Shenson to produce and Richard Lester to direct the film A Hard Day's Night in 1964. Shenson contacted The Beatles before they went to the United States in the autumn of 1963, requesting them to create six songs for the film - with no specific theme, but with two lyrical songs, two fast-paced dance tracks, and so on. During their vacation in the Caribbean, they created eight or nine songs, and Dick Lester selected six of them for use in the movie. These songs are: You Can't Do That、And I Love Her、I Should Have Known Better、Tell Me Why、If I Fell、I'm Happy Just to Dance with You。 Before filming began on March 2nd, The Beatles recorded these songs in EMI Studios in London. The part playing 'You Can't Do That' was edited out during the release of the movie, but it was previously released as the B-side of the Can't Buy Me Love single and still appears on the American version of the soundtrack album. The movie shooting started on March 2nd and ended on April 24th. The film uses exaggerated techniques to describe the life of the Beetle, and its theme comes from a sentence said by John Lennon. When Lester asked John about their trip to Sweden, John replied, "It was a room and a car and a car and a room and a car." This sentence was slightly modified and used in the movie, becoming a line for "Paul's grandfather. Shenson originally thought he could find the title of any new song as a movie title, but none of these six new songs were suitable. During the filming, everyone racked their brains to find a suitable name for the movie. One day, while chatting with him, John mentioned Ringo's interesting language and cited "A hard day's night" as an example. John himself once used this phrase in his recently published book 'In His Own Write'. Everyone unanimously agrees that it can be used as a movie title. So John followed Shenson's instructions and created the theme song for the movie, which he recorded during the filming on April 16th. The soundtrack album for the movie published in the United States only includes these seven new songs, but for Parlophone's UK record, they returned to the studio in June and recorded five more new songs: I'll Cry Instaid, I'll Be Back, Any Time At All, Things We Said Today, and When I Get Home. Including their previously released single Can't Buy Me Love used in the movie, there are a total of 13 songs on the album in the UK, all of which are original songs by The Beatles. This is the first time they have been able to release a fully original album. This achievement is mainly attributed to John Lennon's strong creative ability at the time. Among these 13 songs, 9 were written by him as the main composer. Paul wrote three songs and collaborated with John to create I'm Happy Just to Dance With You for George. Of course, according to the principle of the lead vocalist, John's lead vocals on this album far exceeded the other three, and he didn't even give Ringo a chance to perform. The movie 'A Hard Day's Night' has become a classic of rock movies, teaching a whole generation of young people the principle of rebellion, and this album marks a new stage in The Beatles' creation, which can be called the 'mid stage of the early stage', right?
