Plot Summary
Since starting her Catholic MOOCs, the devout young girl Maria has distanced herself from popular culture and resisted the temptations of Satan's incarnation. As she grew up, her strict mother still restrained her daily life and social interactions in an absolute authoritarian manner. Devout Maria not only worked hard to meet the requirements, but also made a dangerous decision secretly in order to allow her brother with autism to speak up. The Girl's Prayer "echoes the extreme actions of the characters in the film in a neat and perfect form. Fourteen titles throughout the film, borrowed from short chapters of Jesus' journey; Fourteen long shots construct a rigorous and ceremonial structure, reminiscent of Rossellini's 1950 film 'The Flower of Saint Francis'. Differently, this film appears to calmly depict Maria's journey of sacrificing and dedicating herself to pursuing her faith, but in reality, it uses a strong critical and satirical tone to explore how extreme religious fanaticism has become a variant of authoritarian high-pressure rule, with astonishing courage.
