Description
Plot Summary
Duan Xiaolou (Zhang Fengyi) and Cheng Dieyi (Leslie Cheung) are a pair of young master brothers who grew up together. They played both roles, one as a student and the other as an actress, and they have always worked together seamlessly. Especially in the film "Farewell My Concubine", they became famous in Beijing. Therefore, the two agreed to co star in "Farewell My Concubine" for a lifetime. But the two have fundamentally different understandings of the relationship between drama and life. Duan Xiaolou deeply understands that drama is not life, while Cheng Dieyi is inseparable from human drama. When Duan Xiaolou thought it was time to start a family and career, he married the famous courtesan Juxian (Gong Li), which led Cheng Dieyi to believe that Juxian was a shameful third party, making Duan Xiaolou a traitor. From then on, the love hate battle between the three around the movie "Farewell My Concubine" began to escalate with the changing times, ultimately resulting in a tragedy.
