Plot Summary

TV drama screenwriter Zhou Shijie (Jet Li) was divorced by his wife Monica (Brigitte Lin) and, feeling depressed, began writing the script for the TV series "Adventure King". In his imagination, he became the adventure king Wei Yixin of the Republic of China era, while Monica became a Japanese spy named Mikako to vent his frustration. The wordless scripture that Tang Sanzang obtained from the Western Heaven and is now missing has become a target of competition between the Chinese and Japanese governments. In order to prevent the Japanese from taking the lead, the Chinese government invited archaeological expert Wei Yixin and his disciple Bao Jiaoxiao (Takeshi Kaneshiro) to investigate the whereabouts of the scripture. Upon learning that the clue was on the surface of the scripture box, the two infiltrated the Japanese consulate and met the mysterious beauty Mikako.
